Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s actions are cause for concern.
Shortly after a judge permitted a Texas woman facing a nonviable, life-threatening pregnancy to pursue an abortion, Paxton issued threats to hospitals and doctors, warning them of potential civil and criminal consequences for complying with the judge’s decision.
Republicans have, on occasion, implemented some of the nation’s most stringent abortion restrictions, with Texas being among the harshest. Instances like this highlight the GOP’s callous stance towards women, igniting national opposition to such bans and providing Democrats with ammunition as they approach a generally favorable election cycle.
Paxton’s extreme reaction is nothing short of astonishing and must be seen to be believed.
