Holiday Weekend Notice
Just a heads up, Shade Seekers, it could be slim pickings today, being a holiday weekend and all. I hope others have better luck.
Amen Judge Luttig!
Judge Luttig has some powerful words about patriotism and American democracy. He says:
They have sought to redefine patriotism and American democracy, but neither is subject to redefinition. There is a truth about patriotism and American democracy. The former president and Republican Party can deny it all they want, just as they’ve denied fact after fact after fact since January 6th, 2021. But the fact that they deny it doesn’t make that denial true, and it never will.
Where’s the Video?
Isn’t it obvious? It’s sitting right next to his tax returns. The Trump campaign said at the beginning of the week it would release video of the Arlington National Cemetery incident. Where’s the video?
Andrew Weissmann’s Point
Andrew Weissmann makes a very good point:
Desecration is a foundational tenet promoted by Trump. Whether it be the military, war heroes, ⭐️ families, cemeteries – or the White House and the Capitol.
Gold Star Widow Speaks Out
Ali Velshi interviewed a Gold Star Widow, whose husband is buried in Arlington, this morning. She has a few thoughts for Jackoff Douchebag:
I am demanding accountability from Corporal Vance on how this egregious trespassing of sacred ground, how it can be worth your integrity to work for a man like that.
To the gold star families out there, I respect your right to invite who you choose to your memory ceremonies. However, our service and section 60, specifically, is just so much bigger than any one person…
Sundown Towns: A Disturbing Trend
This is disturbing. First, let’s explain what Sundown Towns are:
Sundown towns are communities in the United States that were intentionally kept all-white by excluding non-white people, often African Americans, after dark. The term comes from signs that told “colored people” to leave town by sundown.
Sundown towns were most prevalent before the 1950s, but some still exist today. They were created through a combination of intimidation, violence, and discriminatory local laws. The rules were often unofficial, but Black people were generally allowed to pass through during the day or go in to shop or work, but had to be gone by nightfall. Breaking the rules could result in arrest, beatings, or worse.
Sundown towns were created in waves of violence in the early 20th century in states such as Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, and Pennsylvania.
Now, the context:
This gentleman has noticed something very disturbing. Trump has been holding his hate rallies in sundown towns.
Trump Campaign’s Blunder
“d J. Trump…” You can’t make this stuff up. The Trump campaign called Kamala Harris “incoherent” while butchering their own candidate’s name on their own webpage.
Fox News Comparison
At least these people aren’t weird or nuthin… Fox News highlights disturbing similarities between RFK Jr. and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer.
Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins compared Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer because both men had an affinity for roadkill.
Trump’s Abortion Ban Flip-Flop
Don’t worry, wait five minutes and he might flip back again. Trump backs a 6-week abortion ban after flip-flopping on Florida Amendment.
Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, has reversed his position on Florida’s restrictive abortion policies within just 24 hours. On Thursday, in an NBC News interview, Trump indicated he was against the state’s six-week abortion ban, calling it “too short” and stating his preference for allowing more time. “I am going to be voting that we need more than six weeks,” Trump said.
However, by Friday, facing intense backlash from his right-wing base, Trump changed course. Speaking to Fox News’ Bryan Llenas, Trump endorsed Florida’s six-week abortion ban and confirmed he would vote against Florida Amendment 4, a ballot measure that would protect abortion rights under the state constitution. Despite reiterating discomfort with the six-week limit, Trump dismissed Florida Amendment 4 by lying about the bill. “The nine months is just a ridiculous situation,” Trump claimed, adding, “I will be voting no for that reason.”
