This may be the final ad Lincoln Project will releases as we get into the waning hours of this campaign and Election Day itself dawns tomorrow. Donald Trump did everything in his power to discount the validity of mail-in voting and now he’s doing everything in his power to see that ballots received after November 3 don’t get counted at all. The egregiousness of that proposition and who it would disenfranchise is the subject of this ad. Mark Hamill narrates.
It feels like this election has been going on for years. It’s got a surreal, purgatory-esque feel to it, like it will never end and we’ll never get rid of Donald Trump.
I’ve had the privilege to be friends with veterans of different wars, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. They all said, to the man and to the woman, that after a while you get somewhat acclimated to the horrors of war, but never fully. When you think you have grown enough scar tissue on your nerves, something fresh arises to shock you anew.
That’s how the past four years have felt, like being in a war. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, some new trauma appears.
All the ballots need to be counted. That may be our next line of defense in this endless assault from Trump and an abysmally corrupt GOP. Never before was this an issue, but it is now. Every vote counts and every vote must be counted.
