As Donald Trump continues to criticize the late war hero and former Arizona Senator John McCain, a new query has emerged. During an interview on Thursday with Anderson Cooper, former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey, a colleague of McCain’s and who, like McCain, honorably served in the Vietnam War, said he wants something from Trump. He wants evidence of Trump’s bone spurs.
Trump keeps saying McCain’s not his kind of guy. Bob Kerrey says Trump’s kind of guy is “the guy who showed up and said he didn’t want to go to Vietnam.”
Backed by medical studies, Kerrey leans in with some ‘by the way’ information.
You don’t grow out of bone spurs.
You see where this is going.
Kerrey who was also the former Governor of Nebraska, calls on Donald Trump to get some x-rays, because while John McCain was flying combat operations in Vietnam, Kerrey believes Trump was using his made-up bone spurs to get out of going to Vietnam.
Now I know lots of people who avoided the draft, but this is not what he’s saying. He’s saying, ‘I physically couldn’t go.’
Everything he’s saying is bad enough, but when he says, he’s not my kind of guy because [McCain] went to Vietnam, was flying combat missions, got shot down, was held prisoner—that’s not your kind of guy? Who is your ‘kind of guy? Your friends who falsified their records so they didn’t have to go? I think that’s the answer. I think he sees all of us that went to Vietnam as fools. We were the suckers. We were the stupid ones that didn’t have the resources to get out of the draft. He had the resources and he got out of it.
So show us your bone spurs. Let’s see those x-rays.
Kerry says it will be then that Trump would have to admit he did everything he possibly could do to get out of the same war in which John McCain bravely fought, was tortured and risked his life. Let it be known.
