If you don’t follow James Rebanks, you should. The guy writes about his life as a shepherd in the Lake District of England. It sounds boring, but his tweets and books are remarkable.
So anywho, he was flying into Chicago yesterday, en route to Des Moines (Iowa), and this happened:
U.S. Passport checking guy…
âÂÂWhat do you do?âÂÂ
âÂÂIâÂÂm a writerâÂÂ
âÂÂYou havenâÂÂt come to write bad stuff about our president have you?âÂÂLong silence whilst I worked out if he was actually serious
Stony official stare from him until I said
âÂÂNoâÂÂ
Then waved in to USA pic.twitter.com/BBgx4V6fbn

Now of course, he’s being harassed on Twitter by Trump supporters who claim it didn’t happen. This guy is straight up legit. As if someone real and grounded enough to write this book would make up something like this.
To the insane people now telling me IâÂÂm a liar and itâÂÂs a good thing to hassle writers…
F off you morons

Here’s a sample of the kind of thing Rebanks writes:
Just remembered I have form on this… https://t.co/ueN13ZWXgf

and here’s why following him on Twitter is an absolute joy:
