Two East Coast Newspapers Publish Opposite Accounts Of Trump Imposing Quarantine w/Nat’l Guard

The Washington Examiner, which touts itself as reporting “straight news, conservative opinion” published a breaking story Friday night saying that Donald Trump was contemplating imposing a nationwide two-week quarantine, if his “tough love” efforts fail.

President Trump, moving with haste to slow the spread of the coronavirus, is preparing a plan to mobilize the National Guard to help enforce a two-week quarantine of the public if his tough-love efforts so far fail.

The unprecedented action would require everyone to “stay at home,” according to a source knowledgeable of the evolving plan.

The effort, which is still being mulled and wouldn’t be announced until early next week if needed, would urge that all businesses, except grocery stores and pharmacies, be closed.

It comes on the heels of other insider reports that the president is considering grounding all U.S. passenger flights to force a halt in people interacting and moving around the country.

Alternatively, the Goldsboro North Carolina Daily News is reporting exactly the opposite, in a piece entitled, “RUMOR CONTROL: President NOT Ordering Nationwide Quarantine

There’s plenty of false information circulating amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In one of the latest instances, people across the United States have reported receiving texts or voicemails warning them to gather supplies before President Donald Trump invokes the Stafford Act to order a mandatory two-week quarantine nationwide.  Another part of the rumor is the National Guard is being mobilized.

First, the Stafford Act does NOT allow the government to order a mandatory quarantine.  Also, the Stafford Act has already been activated as a way to help states obtain resources needed to combat the novel coronavirus.

Second, the National Security Council has refuted the rumors.  [Emphasis theirs]

This has never happened before, to the best of my knowledge, newspapers publishing conflicting facts like this, not even in wartime, when communications were understandably snarled at times. On the other hand, we’ve never had a lying buffoon in office like we have now, let alone at a time of unprecedented crisis. What is the public supposed to do, pick the version of the story they like, flip a coin, what? This is disturbing, to say the least.

A nationwide quarantine is fantasy, soon there will be all kinds of horror stories of happening from inside peoples homes in the states where these orders are being given, its already started in Michigan and there is no quarantine shelter in place order here. 2 roommates got into an argument over restrictions put in place with the result of one being shot to death after that person came at the shooter with a crowbar. You might get away with such orders in China whose people are used to living under authoritarians, in American we are free.

Well, the National Guard has been on the move here in NJ. Tanks on trains in Vineland and manned HumVees moving through Cherry Hill. Why is anyone’s guess.
