Let us revive the word Unprecedented from her slumber for a brief moment, and then let her lie back and take her rest. Unprecedented became the most exhausted word in the language early on in the era of Donald Trump, that she poured gasoline on herself and lit a match, around the same time Irony said “fuck it” and put her head in the oven.
Tuesday Twitter decided to slap a governing restraint of sorts on Trump and yes, Unprecedented, we will disturb you for just a moment here, because you are the precise and honorable word to describe, once again, something classless and/or evil that Trump has done and the unique response to it that somebody in our culture made, after the oblgatory “WTF are we going to do about Trump’s” latest, in this case, his gross misinformation campaign about mail-in ballots, and his tweets about same. Washington Post:
The move, which escalates tensions between Washington and Silicon Valley in an election year, was made in response to two Trump tweets over the past 24 hours. The tweets falsely claimed that mail-in ballots are fraudulent. Twitter’s label says, “Get the facts about mail-in ballots,” and redirects users to news articles about Trump’s unsubstantiated claim.
The tweets, said Twitter spokesperson Katie Rosborough, “contain potentially misleading information about voting processes and have been labeled to provide additional context around mail-in ballots.”
Here are the tweets in question, one of many on this topic.
….living in the state, no matter who they are or how they got there, will get one. That will be followed up with professionals telling all of these people, many of whom have never even thought of voting before, how, and for whom, to vote. This will be a Rigged Election. No way!

The reality TV actor is terrified of his loss in November. That’s understandable. What’s unusual is that he mentiions California. As a Callifornian for forty plus years I can tell you, He.Will.Lose.In.California. You can take that to the bank. Californians hate this man with a laser focus like I have never seen in my life. California is not his worry. He’s already ashes here. That status has not changed nor will it. He needs to worry about the rest of the country and I’m quite frankly surprised that he would even mention us, because the west coast is a fait accompli where Trump is concerned.
His issue is not balloting fraud, and his issue is emphatically not the State of California. His issue is the electorate, which we dearly hope is the “sleeping giant that has awakened, filled with a terrible resolve,” to paraphrase Japanese Admiral Yamamoto’s profound and prescient comment after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Donald Trump has trashed our society and now he’s resorting to a campaign of lies and paranoia in order to trash the 2020 election, Good for Twitter for doing something — although it could do a lot more and just ban him outright. But this is a step in the right direction and as such a good sign that the adults are taking over and the child in chief is soon to be expelled.
