Twitter Alert. Trump is about to lose his sh*t.

Guardian News / YouTube Five times Donald Trump refused to...
grumpy trumpy Guardian News / YouTube

A little over a year ago, someone naming themselves “Anonymous” penned an op-ed to the New York Times, in which he/she related that the Trump administration was in fact every bit as ape shit and unstable on the inside as it appeared on the outside. The author went on to reassure the country at large that all was not lost, because “The Resistance” was on the clock. No, not The Resistance that was busy trying to restore a Democratic majority, but a loose group of senior Trump appointees that were quietly and under the radar doing everything in their power to short circuit Trump’s more dangerous and destructive impulses.

You probably recall that missive. And you also probably recall that it set off a near hysterical grand inquisition within the White House, with His Lowness raging against both the author as well as the concept of a group of his own appointees and employees actively working to subvert his authority. In its hysteria, it almost began to appear as a parody of Mel Brooks’ History of the World Part I, with Trump stomping around in a long, hooded red silk robe, brandishing a pair of thumb screws. The search went on for weeks with no result.

That was then, and this is now. A year later, and the same person has penned an entire book titled   Warning by Anonymous. It is ready to hit the stands within a couple of weeks, and who else but Rachel Maddow obtained a series of lengthy excerpts from the book. The general tone of the excerpts is decidedly darker than the original op-ed, which tried to offer confidence to the American people that the matter was well in hand, and The Resistance had control. The new book implies that this may no longer be the case, and rues the departures of people like Rex Tillerson, John Kelly, and James Mattis.

But it’s the actual content and graphic descriptions of real situations and events in the White House that is going to make Trump, as I put it in the title, lose his shit. The book doesn’t present the President of the United States as childish, it presents him as infantile. A long excerpt goes into the difficulty of briefing the new President, with aides being advised that 50 pages was far too long, make it no more than 10 pages. Then, to make sure that there were plenty of pictures and graphics. Then to make sure there were no more than 3 topics. Then to revert to nothing more than power point slides, since Trump won’t read. Then to limit the number of power points to a bare minimum. Finally, the consensus was reached that the solution was to take in one issue and point, then to hammer that home, regardless of the number of times his feeble mind wandered, until the point got driven home.

Trump’s obsession with graphics presented its own problems. Trump would latch on to a graphic he absolutely adored, often without necessarily even comprehending the issue that the graphic represented, and then excitedly show it to visitors for hours or even days, without providing any context as to what it was supposed to be, leaving people wondering what the hell he was yammering on about. During tensions with Iran, somebody came up with a graphic of what amounted to almost a poster, with graphic images, and the threatening words “Sanctions are coming!” Trump adored it, and impulsively tweeted it out immediately, leading to a solid thrashing on Twitter in response.

But the worst was Trump’s impulsive nature and intransigence. Trump would suddenly seize on an issue from nowhere, based on a comment he heard on FOX News, and impulsively make a calamitous decision, which he would then announce to staff. This would lead to whichever Resistance member who heard of it hitting the “Bat Signal,”  setting up an emergency meeting. Calendars would be cleared, meetings would be cancelled, the Oval Office calendar would be wiped, and a mass emergency intervention would be held with Trump until they managed to find a way to get him to back down under some pretense or other, potentially literally saving lives.

This is the stuff that nightmares are made of. This is not simply an incompetent president, this is a willfully ignorant and malicious dotard, one who knows that he is being held back from his baser instincts, and is actively taking steps of his own to remove those constraints. And even in just the excerpts that Rachel received, the author is making it clear that with the departure of so many stabilizing influences, and their replacement with toadying sycophants, the ramparts may not hold much longer.

With congress on a recess, and no depositions scheduled for tomorrow, this is going to land like a neutron bomb. By morning, other outlets will be piggybacking on Maddow’s exclusive, and the game will be afoot. Trump is going to read or hear these excerpts, and one can only imagine his reaction. Hell, he wants the whistle blower strung up, and all s/he did was to expose possibly criminal behavior that at least appeared sane, not the flailing rantings of a potentially dangerous lunatic.  By the time he’s done, Trump will be the only person  on the country whose thumbs are ground down into the palms of his hands.

Rachel did point out that Anonymous is already coming under fire, and will continue to do so, for hiding behind anonymity while others currently in government employ, like Fiona Hill and Lt Colonel Vindman have stepped forward publicly. It should be pointed out that the whistle blower who started this entire impeachment inquiry is also desperately clinging to anonymity for safety reasons. Also, Anonymous plans to make no profit, took no advance, and will donate the profits to charities that promote freedom of the press. And whether the source steps forward or not, doesn’t change the potential import and impact of what they are putting forward. By the time this posts, Rachel’s show should be on the MSNBC website. The segment is the first block, so you should be able to view it for yourself, and see and hear why the next couple of days are going to be something to behold. Don’t touch that dial.

I did catch her show, it got me wondering, anonymous doesn’t mention anything recent at least from what Rachel read last night. But if anonymous is still there who could it be? That list has gotten a lot smaller, there are only a handful of staffers left. Would one think maybe someone like Kelly Ann or Mr mayonnaise pence, some of the intimate phrases Rachel quoted , it’s got to be someone really close. If it is Kelly Ann that would be a hoot, maybe that’s what keeps her and George from kicking each other’s butts. Eventually anonymous will be… Read more »

While some right wing rags are saying Schiff did not remove the whistleblowers name from a transcript some are stating (Newsmax) that the actual leak was from a Nunes’ aid. Which sounds about right.

This version of things is confirmed by the new book about Mattis by Snodgrass, which I just finished.

By the way, in picture here, Trump looks like he is holding his breath until he is going to explode (or get his own way). Perfect.

Typical petulant child behavior. Send him to his room without his Big Mac.

It helps to envision the day that trump is gone from office, found dead in a ditch, or simply self-implodes or best yet goes to prison….
