You know you have arrived in the world when you obtain a “bodyman.” The bodyman carries the cell phone, the calendar, the papers and meeting outline, he gets lunch, or Diet Coke as the case may be, he goes most everywhere you go. He is in the room when you yell at your aides, or wife, or girlfriend, as the case may be. In other words, he hears things, sees things, knows things. And if you have committed a crime, your bodyman is likely the one who knows as much about it as anyone.
Thus it is highly interesting to learn that President Trump fired his bodyman today. John McEntee was fired because he is currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security for serious financial crimes, a source familiar with his firing told CNN. The charges are not related to the President, the source said. McEntee was escorted from the White House on Monday, three sources with knowledge of the matter told CNN, he was not even allowed time to retrieve his coat.
Mr. McEntee is young, as all bodymen tend to be. He has an entire life ahead of him. Or did. He now faces yet-to-be-determined charges. Whatever those charges may be, one can be sure that he would listen, with interest, if a certain grey-haired prosecutor wanted to discuss a “deal” whereby Mr. McEntee might “inform” the Special Prosecutor’s office as to certain crimes of which he might be aware, in exchange for some “leniency” looking into the future.
We haven’t even had time to discuss what Mr. Tillerson (certainly not a bodyman) might have to say about how he came to be both holder of a medal as “Friend of the Motherland” and Secretary of State. Sounds like Mr. Mueller’s office might have a couple additional phone calls to make after today.
