Ten days later, apparently the deed is done.
Isn’t this blowing the whistle on the boss? Was Perry fired behind the scenes?
Yawn, here we go again, another Trump appointee leaving. The formula for Trump’s “best people” departing is nothing if not predictable. First, there’s some kind of a scandal or fracas, which leads one to wonder if the person in question should/will resign. Then, the individual states how happy s/he is in the job, and huffily insists that the rumors are false. Then the resignation/firing takes place. Axios: Why it matters: While Perry has largely avoided the kind of controversies that have plagued Trump Cabinet officials like Scott Pruitt and Ryan Zinke, he has recently found himself embroiled in the Ukraine scandal currently at the heart of the House’s impeachment inquiry. Perry told the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday that he was directed by President Trump to seek out Rudy Giuliani to discuss the president’s concerns about alleged Ukrainian corruption. The House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight committees have subpoenaed Perry to turn over documents by this Friday as part of their investigation into Trump’s alleged efforts to push Ukraine to investigate 2020 candidate Joe Biden. State Department official George Kent told House investigators on Wednesday that the White House removed the core of its Ukraine policy team in the spring and replaced it with “three amigos” — Perry, Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland and special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker — who were viewed as more open to pressuring Ukraine. Now the rumors are starting to build about how long Mick Mulvaney is going to last, given the fact that he more or less put a turd in the punchbowl by admitting to an impeachable offense earlier Thursday, namely that Trump did demand a quid pro quo from Ukraine. Members of Trump’s remaining skeleton staff are stumbling about trying to fix that gaffe, even as we speak. Who knows who will be left? As always, I find myself wondering who’s got the nuclear football — if anybody in this clown show even pays attention to things like that.
Sometimes people in Washington get it plain wrong!
If conservatives support police killing citizens without justification, climate denial, fact denial, science denial, racist and misogynistic behavior, or a litany of other absurd points of view about numerous important issues, we call them out.
