As many of you know, the House continued to hear depositions this weekend from new witnesses. Specifically, the House heard from Tim Morrison, a former National Security Council official. Morrison testified as to interactions between Sondland and Trump, and more specifically, what Trump demanded of Sondland. It did not go well for Republicans. Remember Rep. Mike Turner? The Republican who told Ambassador Yovanovitch “”you’re done” in a particularly disrespectful manner? Yes, that guy. Everyone knows which side he’s on, and it was not Marie Yovanovitch’s side. Yet, Rep. Turner had an interesting response to Tim Morrison’s testimony. GOP Rep. Mike Turner — a member of one of the House committees involved in the impeachment inquiry — said today that information provided about Trump during a closed-door deposition of a former National Security Council official "is alarming" and "not OK." https://t.co/dkSECTF1Yl — Caroline Orr (@RVAwonk) November 18, 2019 A “national security official” (Morrison) brought forth evidence that Republican Congressman Mike Turner calls “alarming” and “Not okay”? What type of evidence could have come out that so alarmed Rep. Turner? From CNN: On Saturday, Morrison testified that US ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland was acting at Trump’s instruction in his dealings with Ukraine. According to Morrison’s deposition, Sondland said the President told him that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “must announce the opening of the investigations” into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. Morrison also testified that US aid to Ukraine was conditioned on the country announcing an investigation into the Bidens. There is no evidence of wrongdoing by either Biden in Ukraine. Yes, that is “alarming” despite fitting the theme we’ve known all along. Perhaps Morrison has some proof to back-up that it happened in a particularly egregious manner, some sort of direct tie that had not previously been known, and will not be easily spun away. It is alarming Turner, and that is enough. We can relish the fact that Turner recognizes that things have changed, having seen Yovanovitch tie the Republicans in knots. This might be just as good, if not better. Watch this guy, and this evidence, quite closely. **** Peace, y’all Jason firstname.lastname@example.org and on Twitter @MiciakZoom
Sometimes people in Washington get it plain wrong!
If conservatives support police killing citizens without justification, climate denial, fact denial, science denial, racist and misogynistic behavior, or a litany of other absurd points of view about numerous important issues, we call them out.
