The rumors – almost established as fact by Rudy Giuliani – regarding Trump are more serious than even I had contemplated. They are more direct, they are head-spinning, they are cheap, sleazy, they endanger Ukrainian lives, and the Biden family’s future. For those who have been on the moon, or on the road, as I was much of yesterday, the allegation is that Trump told the president of Ukraine to restart baseless-investigations of Joe Biden’s son, or Trump would withhold $250 million of military aid that Ukraine desperately needs to fight Russians in its outer territories. Put another way, Trump requested that Ukraine collude/conspire with him, to meddle in the 2020 election, and this time Trump used our money as the bait. If Ukraine refused, Trump’s deal benefited Putin. Period. We spent $40 million to investigate Trump’s possible collusion with Russia in the 2016 election. It is important to recall that Mueller specifically stated that they could not find sufficient evidence to establish collusion, in part due to the lies and use of encrypted phones/computers, which stymied the investigation. Here, we have a whistleblower who was in the White House, and we have Rudy basically verify it on TV, all while it is happening in real time. It would appear that colluding to win one election in 2016 worked so well that Trump determined he would do it again. These charges are not the type for which any privilege could possibly apply. Privileges do not apply in the furtherance of a crime. Moreover, even if the transcripts and actions could conceivably be suppressed under a claim of privilege, enough is out now (thanks, Rudy!) that the Congress must demand release of the complaint. Every member of Congress must now stand-up together. Should it be true, Trump must step down, immediately. Moreover, William Barr and Joseph Maguire need to resign, also, for suppressing the report from Congress. If a president can openly, brazenly, and without remorse, bribe another country using our tax money, all in order to defeat political rivals, then we’re beyond any quaint notions of “edging toward a dictatorship” and declare ourselves to be in the front of the line. Our system of government, the very system itself, hasn’t been challenged like this since .. I honestly don’t know. Watch Republicans over the next week. We know that if the allegations prove true, Democrats will be calling for Trump’s impeachment. Watch Republicans closely, this is the ultimate test, party over country, or country over party. Do not bother watching Trump’s hardcore supporters. I recall a clip of video that I saw a couple years ago, an evangelical leader had been asked what he would do if Jesus got down off the cross to tell him that Trump colluded with Russia. He said; “I would say; ‘Stay right here, I have to check with the president.'” Trump’s loyal supporters will blame “the deep state.” Republican lawmakers know better. They know damn well what is at stake. Right versus wrong. Openness or suppression. Lawful or criminal, country or party, it is that simple. If it is the latter, it is over for this great democratic experiment. **** Peace, y’all Jason firstname.lastname@example.org, and Follow on Twitter: @MiciakZoom.com
Trump shocked normal sensibilities and aroused the ire of lawmakers, and justifiably so, when he openly invited foreign interference with the 2020 election in an interview Wednesday with George Stephanopoulos. This echoed Trump’s open invitation to Russia in 2016 to obtain Hillary’s emails. Senator and Ranking Member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner, wasn’t […]
Sometimes people in Washington get it plain wrong!
If conservatives support police killing citizens without justification, climate denial, fact denial, science denial, racist and misogynistic behavior, or a litany of other absurd points of view about numerous important issues, we call them out.
