Plenty of good news this morning, but before I get to it, I need to rant.
No, not at any of you.
F^ck you Trump. F^ck. You.
Our nation is facing a hurricane of epic proportions and you pick NOW to ban transgender people from the armed services and pardon that racist POS Arpaio?
Really? Really!?! This exact moment? Are you f^cking serious???!!!
This seemed like a good time to stoke hatred?
This seemed like a good time to further divide us?
F^CK YOU.
You are a monster, and just when I think you can’t get any worse, there you are, MONSTERING worse than I could have imagined.
I cannot WAIT until Mueller destroys you. I cannot WAIT until you are out of office.
This is NOT your country. You are a blip. An evil, disgusting and TEMPORARY stain on our great nation.
We will outlast you. We will dance on your impeachment. We will cheer your fall from power. We will toast and whoop and celebrate your disgraceful and embarrassing decline.
Oh, and it is coming. You know as well as we do. It is coming.
Time is ticking on your presidency Trump. tick. tick. tick.
Mueller is coming for you — you know it and we know it.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller issued grand jury subpoenas in recent days seeking testimony from public relations executives who worked on an international campaign organized by Paul Manafort, people directly familiar with the matter told NBC News.
This is the first public indication that Mueller’s investigation is beginning to compel witness testimony before the grand jury — a significant milestone in an inquiry that is examining the conduct of President Donald Trump and his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, among others.
It is also further indication that Manafort, Trump’s onetime campaign chairman, could be in serious legal jeopardy.
Special counsel Robert Mueller is examining what role, if any, former national security adviser Mike Flynn may have played in a private effort to obtain Hillary Clinton’s emails from Russian hackers, according to people familiar with the matter.
The effort to seek out hackers who were believed to have stolen Mrs. Clinton’s emails, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, was led by a longtime Republican activist,Peter W. Smith. In correspondence and conversations with his colleagues, Mr. Smith portrayed Mr. Flynn as an ally in those efforts and implied that other senior Trump campaign officials were coordinating with him, which they have denied. He also named Mr. Flynn’s consulting firm and his son in the correspondence and conversations.
Investigators working for Mr. Mueller have been conducting interviews and collecting information as they seek to determine whether Mr. Flynn was involved in Mr. Smith’s effort, and if his son, Michael G. Flynn, and the consulting firm Flynn Intel Group had a role, the people said. At the time Mr. Smith was trying to find the emails, Mr. Flynn was a senior adviser to the Trump campaign and had been on a short list of potential vice presidential candidates.
Former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman said Thursday that President Trump is acting in regards to the Russia collusion investigation as if he knows “time is running out.”
“What we’re finding is, as time goes on, we keep learning new, additional facts. But we don’t know what Mueller’s staff knows. For all we know, we may just have the tip of the iceberg on this,” Akerman toldMSNBC‘s Ari Melber.
“At the same time that we keep getting more evidence, we also learn that Donald Trump has consistently, from day one, tried to stop this Russia investigation,” Akerman said.
“All of this comes down to one simple fact,” said Akerman. “You have someone who is acting extremely guilty, someone who is acting in a way that he realizes that time is running out, and he’s taking all kinds of desperate moves to try and stop this investigation.”
When a group of far-right activists come toSan Franciscoto hold a rally this Saturday, they will be met by peace activists offering them flowers to wear in their hair.
Also, dog shit. Lots and lots of dog shit.
Hundreds of San Franciscans plan to prepare Crissy Field, the picturesque beach in the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge where rightwing protest group Patriot Prayer will gather, with a generous carpeting of excrement.
The Rev. Al Sharpton organized more than 1,000 religious leaders from multiple faiths to rally Monday in Washington, saying he hopes to show that opposition to President Trump is not merely a political reproach, but also a moral one.
The “One Thousand Ministers March for Justice” in front of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial will come on the 54th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, where King delivered his famed “I Have a Dream” speech.
The rally was planned long before a deadly white supremacist protest earlier this month in Charlottesville, although Sharpton said the events in Virginia only intensified the mission of Monday’s march.
“Charlottesville gave it a new energy, and a lot of ministers called in saying that this is the time to make a moral statement,” Sharpton said. “The president called for unity, and we are going to show unity. The question is, which side is the president on?”
President Trump handed Democrats a gift this week with his vow to shut down the government if he doesn’t soon get money for his border wall.
Democrats may be only too happy to let him follow through on his threat since it will now be easy for them to blame the president for any government interruption, which would probably aggravate many Americans.
Rather than cowing Democrats, Mr. Trump’s tough talk is more likely to embolden the opposition in ongoing negotiations, particularly since he has now twice suggested he was willing to shutter government agencies if he didn’t get his way.
Donald Trump is not a strategic thinker. He’s impulsive and reactive, sometimes to his benefit, but often to his detriment. And right now, he’s reacting to his political troubles by lashing out at his own party in Congress. This doubtless makes him feel good — it’s obvious that he never feels more alive than when he’s fighting with somebody.
But it also poses a serious threat to his entire presidency. That’s because you could hardly come up with a better way to depress Republican turnout in the 2018 midterm elections than what he’s doing right now.
Deep in the heart of Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick must have thought they had a political winner.
Patrick, a conservative crusader and talk-radio host, got Abbott to call aspecial sessionthis summer of the Texas legislature — an emergency! — largely for the purpose of passing a “bathroom bill” to restrict the use of public rest rooms by transgender people.
It was opportunistic and cynical, a solution in search of a problem.
But things didn’t go according to plan. The business community objected, fearing the sort of economicboycott that hit North Carolinaover a similar bill. Police chiefs called the legislation counterproductive. Polling showed Texans, particularly young Texans, didn’t think the issue a priority. Support for the bill shrank from an earlier attempt at passage. The House speaker, a Republican, refusedto bring it up. The legislatureadjournedlast weekwith the bathroom bill swirling in the drain.
Even deeply conservative Texas, it seems, has no appetite for discrimination against transgender Americans. Yet here comes President Trump with a fresh attempt at just such discrimination.
In other words, Trump’s transgender military ban is awful and most decidedly NOT good news. But what IS good news is that the tide has turned in America and he is swimming against that tide (and will be hurt by it politically).
If this kind of action wasn’t even popular and possible in TEXAS then trump is not doing himself any favors in the US. We WILL overturn this legislation as soon as we get these bozos out of the WH. In the meantime, he is setting himself even further away from future victory.
And there are already multiple lawsuits over this. The fight is NOT over. We will win this. Hate will not win.
Whew!
Have a great weekend everyone. Stay strong and stay optimistic. We are going to win this. I promise.
