Fox News / YouTube Rep Steve King explains defense of 1540835535.jpg...

Iowa Rep. Steve King made his name as an immigrant-hater long before Donald Trump was on the scene, but Trump seems to have emboldened King to take the hatred further and be more vocal about it. King has taken it far enough that he’s feeling … not quite defensive, but like he needs to explain himself a little. Unfortunately for King, the explanation does not improve his situation:

He said the groups he’s associated with that are criticized as having neo-Nazi views were more accurately “far right” groups. He specifically cited Austria’s Freedom Party, which was founded by a former Nazi SS officer and is led by Heinz-Christian Strache, who was active in neo-Nazi circles as a youth. The group has emphasized a hard-line anti-immigration stance even as it seeks to distance itself from the Nazi connections.

“If they were in America pushing the platform that they push, they would be Republicans,” King said.

Well, yes. They probably would be Republicans. See for instance “King, Rep. Steve.” And they were founded by a Nazi SS officer and are led by a “former” neo-Nazi. Does that not tell you something about the Republican Party?
