Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ain’t playing, and she earned the praise of Trump critic and former Obama Director of the United States Office of Government Ethics Walter Shaub for her performance yesterday in hearings held by The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee during which she laid bare, with her questioning of Shaub and other witnesses, the electoral mechanism currently in place that allows elected officials to take money from special interests for their campaigns, write laws to benefit those same interests, and finally invest their own money in the industries they have helped — thus closing the circle of corruption.
It is an amazing piece of video, which, unfortunately, will not embed here and has not been written about — that I can find — anywhere.
You can see it at C-Span.org.
Her last question, to Shaub, is telling.
She establishes that weak though the laws of oversight are on Congress critters, The President, grifter that he is, is held to even a lower standard.
Shaub’s opinion of AOC:
This clip doesn't do it justice. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez @aoc powerfully walked through ways that loopholes in our fractured system are exploited to gain and misuse entrusted power for private gain. It was peek behind the closed doors of smoke-filled rooms where democracy is stolen. https://t.co/Pams4UMKyl
