In recent weeks there has been a lot of speculation about DonaldTrump’s obsession with attacking the National Football Leaguebecause of players protesting about police brutality incommunities of color. Is it because he knows his rabid base doesn’tgive a damn about racial injustice? That years ago his bid to buyan NFL team was rejected by the other team owners? Simply drivinga cultural wedge to distract from the disaster that is hispresidency? Smart money is on the first reason, but whatever thecase, his animus may soon spread across the sports’ world spectrumbecause for Donald Trump, the shit just got real:
Before Trump turned professionalathletes into his political targets in recent weeks … he had beenprivately losing their teams’ business. The trend has sapped hishotels of revenue and big-league buzz, a survey of teams by TheWashington Post found.
In all, The Post found that 17 teamsfrom across the four major sports had stayed at Trump properties inrecent years. Now, at least 16 are no longer customers.
A small bright spot in a time of seemingly endless badnews.
