House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a bottom line for when the State of the Union address can happen: when the government is open and the government employees responsible for security at it are getting paid.
.@SpeakerPelosi on why she thinks SOTU should wait until government is reopened: "Let's pay the employees. [Trump] thinks it is okay not to pay people who do work. I don't. My caucus doesn't either." pic.twitter.com/86zwKREc23

Asked the baiting question of whether she’s playing politics by denying Trump a platform, she was unequivocal.
I’m not denying him a platform at all. We’re saying, let’s get a date when the government is open. Let’s pay the employees. Maybe he thinks it is okay not to pay people who do work. I don’t. My caucus doesn’t either.
Meanwhile, the White House still hasn’t responded to Pelosi’s letter.
