BostonPeter / Flickr Two Things To Consider This Week...

The Hill:

“I received assurances that his [Mueller’s] firing is not even under consideration,” Ryan told reporters during his weekly news conference on Tuesday. “We have a system based upon the rule of law in this country, we have a justice system, and no one is above that justice system.”

“The special counsel should be free to follow through his investigation to its completion without interference, absolutely,” Ryan said. “I am confident that he will be able to do that.”

Not to sound cynical, but Republicans are not exactly known for keeping their word — especially this Republican. Take this with several grains of salt and maybe a tengrain of aspirin.

  1. Little weasel Ryan and the Trumpeter have something collectively planned up their sleeves. I wouldn’t trust either as far as I could kick their asses. Discrediting Mr. Mueller is a different tactic and I hope the majority of Americans will see it for what it really is, deflection, interference and possible obstruction.

And if Trump does fire Mueller, be ready to protest/March. Sign up here for MoveOn’s Rapid Response to Mueller or even Rosenstein firing in your area:

Let them know who’s really in charge and that they work for us!

    • McConnell finally broke his silence this morning. He predicted that Mueller would be allowed to finish his investigation unimpeded. These are big deals coming from these two.

  2. Ryan does a lot of talking but not much walking. He often supports by doing nothing rather than look like he is a bad guy.
There is very little he can say anymore that anyone would find assuring.

    • What I’ve heard is that Ryan is through. Democrat Randy Bryce has a good chance to beat him and Kevin McCarthy is supposed to replace him as Speaker in any event, so his future in politics doesn’t look all that hopeful.
