Good Monday to all of you, its the beginning of Daylights saving time, so let’s save our country by beating the daylights out of the GOP at the polls!

The Manafort ruling, while BS, isn’t the end-all justice that a lot of people on these boards think it is. And the GOP is still finished in the long term regardless of how many crooked judges they install, or gerrymandering they get up to. Because we’ve seen the future of the Democratic Party, we’ve seen the new young turks who you can look at and go “They’re gonna be President one day”: AOC, Beto O’Rourke, Ilhan Omar. Who does the GOP have? A frightened old man, the oldest ever to be elected to Presidency, clutching to the American Flag like he’s Linus from the Peanuts. A frightened, fearful little man who thinks being loud and belligerent is the same as being brave, a man who, thankfully, mercifully, we wont have to deal with much longer if things keep going the way they are going.  That is the GOP’s rookie of the year.

Sure the GOP has gerrymandering, sure they have crooked judges, but those are band aids, they’re pain killers, they don’t address the problem that the GOP is shrinking, the Evangelical churches that support the GOP are shrinking, The small towns the GOP relies on for votes are dying because the GOP takes and takes from them without giving anything back because why would they? They’ve brainwashed their base to attack anything remotely liberal even as the GOP raids their fridge, screws their sister and sells Opioids to their son. But the thing about a guard dog is you have to still feed them, and the GOP will find one day their Guard Dog is long dead because, well, instead of feeding them they just opened up the can of dog food and ate it themselves the greedy pigs.

Even now the GOP is hanging on by a thread. Let me ask a simple question: What would happen if Mitch McConnell died tomorrow? What if he suffered a stroke, or slipped in the shower, or just choked on a piece of lettuce? Who would replace him? Who in the GOP has the same level of competence as him? No one as far as I can tell. The GOP has championed anti intellectualism and ignorance for decades, because stupid people are easy to mislead, but the drawback of that is that it means your pool for new recruits is pretty poor. The only people left in the GOP are a bunch of hustlers, crackpots, weirdos and unintelligent a-holes who don’t know how to run a country, who don’t know how to maintain the intricate web of bullshit the GOP has put together to keep themselves in power. And its not gonna get any better, because the next generation of the GOP are a bunch of internet tough guys who think just because they bombed rotten tomatoes with fake bad reviews, or intimidated video game programmers with death threats, that they somehow have what it takes to conquer the world.

The GOP is screwed. Judges can’t save them, Gerrymandering can’t save them, we will outlast them and when they are gone, we will tear down the edifices of their corruption and bury them with it.

Alright, got that concludes old business, onto new business.

Graham’s embrace of Trump ignites Democratic hopes to unseat him.

Sen. Lindsey Graham’s emergence as President Trump’s horse whisperer has likely helped cement his position among South Carolina Republicans — but Democrats say it’s created an opening for them to take his seat in 2020.

It would be a stunning upset in a solidly red state, where Mr. Graham won last time with 55 percent of the vote.

But Democrats say the senator appears to be grasping at Mr. Trump’s coattails in a bid for attention that has undercut his reputation as a maverick and could potentially cost him the support of crossover Democrats and middle-of-the-road independents.

In the wake of John McCain’s death, Senator and the platonic ideal of an old timey Small town Southern Lawyer Lindsey Graham has been on a mission to crawl further into Trumps ass than anyone else on capitol Hill. Presumably, he doesn’t suffocate in there or get mauled by an angry and feral Chris Collins (who  himself stakes a claim on that soil years ago), he’s going to be running in 2020 for reelection, and the Dems are hopeful that his connection to Trump will be his undoing. I for one am hopeful; 2018 proves that there’s no such thing as a safe state or district for the GOP anymore, so Graham better hope he’s comfortable in there.

Pelosi, Schumer hope Trump “Learned his lesson” about asking for Wall Money

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) indicated on Sunday that President Trump‘s reported plan to ask for $8.6 billion in the fiscal 2020 budget to fund a wall along the southern border was a non-starter.

“President Trump hurt millions of Americans and caused widespread chaos when he recklessly shut down the government to try to get his expensive and ineffective wall, which he promised would be paid for by Mexico,” the Democratic leaders said in a statement.

“Congress refused to fund his wall and he was forced to admit defeat and reopen the government.  The same thing will repeat itself if he tries this again,” they added.  “We hope he learned his lesson.”

Earlier this week, Racist grandpa and honestly truly functional adult I’m serious stop laughing Donald Trump indicated he would ask congress for 8.6 billion dollars for his stupid vanity project wall. Presumably to paint flames on it to make it go faster. Pelosi and Schumer responded (after fifteen minutes of laughter” with saying no, and hoping that Trump would have “Learned his lesson” from last time.

Now that may seem Naive of Schumer and Pelosi, to assume that Trump is capable of learning ANYTHING. After all, everything Trump needs to know he learned in kindergarten (Mainly that if he cries and screams enough he’ll get his way, and that Elmers glue is actually quite delicious), but I take that statement as a challenge. Pelosi is basically saying “You wanna do this again Donny? Are you sure Donny? You remember how this went last time Donny? I’m down to fight any time you are.”

To move away from politics for a bit, here is a tech based story

Could a Smartphone app detect Diabetes?

By placing the smartphone’s flash and camera next to a finger, it is possible to observe the minute changes resulting from this expansion of the blood vessels. With every contraction of the heart, the skin reflects an increasing amount of light.

The smartphone’s camera can detect this change, and from this data, it is possible to extract information about blood flow.

In the early phases of diabetes, certain vascular changes occur. “Diabetes can be asymptomatic for a long period of time, yet adverse vascular changes still occur silently, which can lead to cardiovascular complications,” explains Dr. Robert Avram.

“This makes it especially important for us to examine low-cost, noninvasive opportunities that make it easy to screen millions of people.”

As someone who has recently been diagnosed as Pre-Diabetic, and who is about to (finally) get their own smart phone, this is pretty interesting news. Also, according to the article 1 in 4 people are diabetic. Oof, we put way too much sugar in our food people. Its crazy.

Mexico’s leftist president creating a new form of Government.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s first 100 days in office have combined a compulsive shedding of presidential trappings with a dizzying array of policy initiatives, and a series of missteps haven’t even dented his soaring approval ratings.

Lopez Obrador has answered more questions from the press, flown in more economy-class flights, posed for more selfies with admiring citizens and visited more genuinely risky areas with little or no security than several combined decades of his predecessors. He’s also surprised many by maintaining a cordial relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump, helping contain Central American migrant caravans while resisting U.S. efforts to oust the leftist government of Venezuela.

The folksy perennial candidate took office Dec. 1 and by the end of his first month in office, Lopez Obrador’s approval rating surpassed 80 percent. He has taken full advantage of that mandate to move quickly on many fronts — perhaps too many.

“Every week he announces at least one or two things,” said Ivonne Acuna Murillo, a professor of political science at the Iberoamerican University in Mexico City. “Sometimes the speed of the issues he is putting on the agenda is such that an issue they put out in the morning is displaced by another in the afternoon.”

So, apparently, things are going really well in Mexico right now. It must stick in Donny’s craw that Mexico’s President is getting more done, and is much more beloved by her people than Donny is here. (Also it sticks in my craw that this could have been us if Hillary had won but whatever).

Speaking of powerful women….

Weekend Box office: Captain Marvel soars to 153 million

Suggesting that a sad, extremely vocal minority of idiots on the internet don’t actually matter in the slightest, Captain Marvel has blasted off to a $153 million debut domestically. Worldwide, the film—directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck—is downright eaving the stratosphere, adding another $302 million for a global total $455 million. This marks the second highest global opening for a superhero film behind Avengers: Infinity War and the highest ever for a female-fronted film. (Beating out the previous record holder, Beauty and the Beast.)

For those who haven’t been following this, Brie Larson, since the start of Captain Marvel, has been very vocal on a lot of woke topics, and as a result, the far right dudebros have done all they can to try and shout down this movie. Remember above when I walked about guys bombing rotten tomatoes with fake reviews? This is what I was talking about. Well, Internet morons find out once again that we outnumber them, and it doesn’t matter how many fake twitter accounts they make that isn’t gonna change any time soon. So Kudos to Captain Marvel.
