Mike Pompeo (unironically): ‘Authoritarianism is just a stone’s throw away’

The lack of insight in this Administration is astounding.  Really.  No shit.

POMPEO: “As we celebrate, as we take this victory lap, we must also recognize that freedom’s never guaranteed. We spoke to this, it doesn’t just happen. Today authoritarianism is just a stone’s throw away. It’s rising, and if we’re honest, it never really went away completely.”

To quote from yesterday’s Washington Post story on the upcoming book A Warning by an anonymous Trump insider:

As he ranted about federal courts ruling against some of his policies, including the 2017 travel ban, the author writes, Trump once asked White House lawyers to draft a bill to send to Congress reducing the number of federal judges.

“Can we just get rid of the judges? Let’s get rid of the [expletive] judges,” the president said, according to the book. “There shouldn’t be any at all, really.”

A stone’s throw? Yeah, it really IS that close.  And while you’re at it, make sure it’s a really heavy stone.

Let’s be honest, you might want to drop it on your boss’s foot, Mike.

The sooner we get rid of this administration the better. I’ve never seen such a moronic, unqualified group of imbeciles. Let’s hope that our allies can look past this era and gain back our trust
