The big screenwriter in the sky has gifted us with yet another bend in the twisted and torturous road that makes up the Trump presidency and at least this one is good for comic relief. Melania made her big acting debut in 2005 as the star of an Aflac commercial. Like Fred and Ginger, she gave the duck sex appeal and he gave her class. Or something. Entertainment:
Michael Porter, an Aflac employee from Georgia, was one of the American workers who met with Trump on Wednesday. “Well, your chairman I know very well, and he’s done a fantastic job,” Trump said, according to remarks released by the White House. “And they actually, a long time ago, hired my wife to do a big commercial. You know that, right? An Aflac commercial. And I think it was a successful commercial, too.”
Scrambling to Google search what exactly Trump is talking about will resurrect the black-and-white ad in question. Melania Trump plays a “lovely woman” whose voice is transplanted into the Aflac duck by a pair of Frankenstein-ian mad scientists wanting to give the spokes-animal more “sex appeal.”
“I am very excited to make my acting debut in the latest Aflac commercial,” Trump said at the time, according to AdWeek. “Donald is known for saying ‘You’re fired’; maybe I will be known for saying ‘Aflac.’”
Without further ado, Aflac, “Experiment” 2005.
