Iran and Afghanistan veteran Brandon Friedman was alarmed at the news Donald Trump told a grieving widow that her husband, Sgt. La David Johnson, “knew what he signed up for” when he joined the military. In response, Friedman, who has served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division, earning two Bronze stars for his actions in both Iraq and Afghanistan, shared his thoughts on what soldiers “sign up for” when they join the military.

Read Brandon Friedman’s must-see comments below. Let’s hope Donald Trump gets the message.

Brandon Friedman has continued his service after leaving the military, serving in roles as the Director of Digital Media at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He is currently launching the veteran-owned and operated Rakkasan Tea Company, which imports tea from carefully selected estates in post-conflict countries as a way to promote peace and economic growth.
