Not long after rapper Cardi B took to social media and called out Donald Trump to end the government shutdown, the pop icon, Lady Gaga, sent out her own message of protest on Saturday night, during a concert in Las Vegas. Gaga stopped in the middle of her song “Million Reasons” to blast Trump for his self-proclaimed shutdown that has financially debilitated hundreds of thousands of federal workers.
“If the fucking president of the United States could please put our government back … there are people who live paycheck to paycheck and need their money!”
Gaga didn’t stop there. The Star is Born award-winning singer, songwriter and actress had some words for VP Mike Pence as well.
“To Mike Pence, who thinks that it’s okay that his wife works at a school that bans LGBTQ, you’re wrong. You’re the worst representation of what it means to be a Christian. I am a Christian woman, and what I do know about Christianity is that we bear no prejudice and everybody is welcome. So you can take all that disgrace, Mr. Pence, and look yourself in the mirror and you’ll find it right there.”
Jen Hayden with Daily Kos wrote more about Karen Pence last week.
Karen Pence, mother wife of Vice President Mike Pence, started a new job this week: a part-time gig as an art teacher at Immanuel Christian School in Virginia, where she previously taught for 12 years. The private Christian school explicitly bans LGBTQ students and employees in the employment application that each staff member must sign and affirm.
Hayden reiterates that Mike and Karen Pence are the same so-called Christians that continuously support a man who has repeatedly cheated on all of his wives and who violates every ethical code by which decent people live.
The Republican Party has been swimming in a sea of hypocrisy for decades, but perhaps never more than now. Donald Trump, who personifies everything that’s bad in a human being, has made all of his loyal Republicans—accomplices to his crimes. They are the epitome of repugnance and repulsiveness. The GOP has stood by and allowed a lying, cheating, immoral and ignorant thug in the Oval Office to run amok around the world under the American banner. With the GOP majority in both the Senate and the House, Republicans had the power to stop Trump soon after he was inaugurated, as they would have any Democrat. But the GOP did nothing. Why? Because it was all working for them. Why mess with their majority that contained no checks or balances. It was a virtual free for all—except for the people.
Cheers to the celebrities like Gaga, who use their massive platforms to condemn and further expose evil entities like Trump to millions and millions around the globe.
Here is the video of Lady Gaga halting her concert performance, in the middle of a song, to chastise Trump and Pence. A Star is Born helped make her more “real.” This makes her more fantastic.
