In yet another example that Alanis Morissette isn’t the only one who doesn’t know what “irony” means, heeeeerrrrre’s Kellyanne!
Senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway on Monday said President Donald Trump was being ironic in a tweet that appeared to confirm he was under federal investigation. She claimed he is not, in fact, the subject of a probe.
Yes. Ironic. In the same sense that … that … wait. It’s not ironic in any sense. How does that work again?
“That’s the President responding to a Washington Post report that included five anonymous sources,” she said. “And that’s the President in his 140 characters, through his significant social media platform, Ainsley, telling everybody, ‘wow, look at the irony here.’”
You know what might have fit in 140 characters? Something like “‘Wow, look at the irony in that Washington Post story that uses five anonymous sources.” There’s even 53 characters left. Enough to get in an attack on Hillary.
There actually is some irony in this situation. Quite a lot of it, actually. Just not where Kellyanne is pointing.
