In what seems to be a surprise to Democrats and perhaps a bit of sweet revenge forSenator Rand Paul (Kentucky-Republican), is vowing to give the Senate the one extra vote needed to pass a resolution to stop Trump from going forward with this fake National Emergency Declaration.
“I can’t vote to give the president the power to spend money that hasn’t been appropriated by Congress. We may want more money for border security, but Congress didn’t authorize it. If we take away those checks and balances, it’s a dangerous thing.”
Paul joins fellow Republicans Thom Tillis (N.C.), Susan Collins (Main) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) in in giving the Senate the definitive number of votes to pass the House Democratic majority resolution to stop Trump. Tennessee’s Senator Lamar Alexander warned Trump of a GOP backlash should he veto the resolution. Trump has already vowed to veto the resolution should it come to his desk, which would be the first veto Trump has executed since being inaugurated over two years ago. This will also be the first time Republicans have joined Democrats to side against Trump.
This is huge news. A year ago, Republicans would have gone along with Trump’s fake National Emergency Declaration. They went along with anything and everything he declared, regardless of the damage it would do to this country. And they did it again and again. But now Republicans as a party are scared, a bunch of scared little rats who traded their souls to the Devil and now are desperately trying to get their humanity back. Yes, they are seeing the light at the end of the tunnell— and it is a train—a big, fast enormous train.
