The Russian’s added a long delayed large module to the ISS this week. There have been a series of glitches since launch but it finally docked. But during the integration into the station the new module started firing its attitude control thrusters pushing the Station out of alignment.

Here is the CNN story.

This was a lot more dangerous then NASA will let on as the uncontrolled and manged stresses are dangerous especially as they still needed to profile the system with the new mass. Shifting the station around also can cut off communications as it indeed did.

Some mission control audio.

Here is the docking earlier with manual control having to take over.

We need to remember this stuff is hard and dangerous.
