Michael Cohen has added Lanny Davis to his legal defense team. Davis has been an outspoken critic of Trump, a former special counsel for Bill Clinton, and is well known to be loyal to the Clintons. In fact, you wrote a book The Unmaking of the President 2016: How FBI Director James Comey Cost Hillary Clinton the Presidency. No joke. In the book, Davis questions the legitimacy of Trump’s election and raises the possibility of removing Trump from office for “mental impairment.”
Here’s Davis’ statement on Cohen retaining him:

Like most of America, I have been following the matter regarding Michael Cohen with great interest.
As an attorney, I have talked to Michael many times in the past two weeks. Then I read his words published on July 2, and I recognized his sincerity.
Michael Cohen deserves to tell his side of the story – subject, of course, to the advice of counsel.
The words from July 2 refer to Cohen’s appearance on ABC News where he rejected the idea that Mueller’s probe is a “witch hunt.” Cohen also said he puts “family and country first.”
On The Beat, Ari Melber and guests painted this a very bad news for Trump and his supporters. They argue that Davis has an agenda to avenge Hillary Clinton’s loss in the 2016 election:

The early speculation that Cohen was just fishing to see if he could get Trump to pay his legal bills by publically dropping hints that he may be flipping. First, he switched his legal counsel, opting for Guy Petrillo, who has favorable connections in the US Attorney office of Southern District of New York, where Cohen is charged. In recent days, Cohen has spoken publically against Trump policies and felt some popular support with chants of “Save America” from a crowd. And on July 4th, Cohen symbolically declared his independence from Trump, by removing references to Trump from his social media accounts.
Cohen may not have officially flipped, but he sure is going to great lengths to make it look like he is getting ready to switch sides. And now that he has officially added a member of the enemy faction to his team, it seems only like a matter of time before the flip becomes official.
