The Sturmabteilung, or “brownshirts,” were formed as the Nazi Party’s first paramilitary group. They protected Nazi officials, including Adolf Hitler and Erich Rohm, fought with the paramilitary groups that opposed them, and intimidated Romani, trade unionists, and especially Jews. Donald Trump, who is known to be a fan of Adolf Hitler, apparently believes this is a great idea. Check out the email he sent out “exclusively” to his “fiercest and most loyal defenders:” The Trump campaign is fundraising off people being in the "Trump Army" and selling camouflage hats. "YOU are the President’s first line of defense when it comes to fighting off the Liberal MOB." pic.twitter.com/KIzxDmkDMg — Aaron Blake (@AaronBlake) June 4, 2020 TL;DR version: the Trump campaign wants to sell the aforementioned “fiercest and most loyal defenders” of His Royal Orange Ass a camo MAGA/KAG hat for $35 (this may not be the exact hat offered in the email), that they can wear to Show Their Loyalty and Proclaim Their Allegiance. But here’s the kicker: The President wants YOU and every other member of our exclusive Trump Army to have something to identify yourselves with, and to let everyone know that YOU are the President’s first line of defense when it comes to fighting off the Liberal MOB. Take a minute. Roll the idea around in your head. Trump wants to recruit and create a “Trump Army,” all wearing easily identifiable hats, to “figh[t] off the Liberal MOB.” I’m guessing that this is part of the “liberal mob” that Trump is agitating against: What exactly does it mean for the “Trump Army” to fight off this ravening, slobbering mob of peaceful liberals? Your guess is as good as mine, but I’m thinking it will start off something like this: They already know how to give the salutes: Trump 2020 is recruiting its own private army to engage in street fighting with, well, whoever they’re pointed at. Naturally Trump and his cadre of press flacks and liars, which we can call the Goebbels Brigade, will sneer and poo-poo the meaning behind the email. Kayleigh McEnany will laugh and say the “hysterical left” is taking the email far too seriously. Kellyanne Conway, whose continued status as being married to George Conway never fails to mystify me, will label the call to violence “metaphorical.” Sure it is. But the Trump 2020 campaign isn’t alone in calling for violence against Americans. Senator Tom Cotton (R-Vermin) wants to send in our military’s most elite units to slaughter Americans. “Slaughter”? Absolutely. Sen. Tom Cotton R-AR suggests using the 101st Airborne to restore order. pic.twitter.com/FBjbQDX8sk — Jamie Dupree (@jamiedupree) June 1, 2020 Cotton is a military veteran. He says, No quarter for insurrectionists, anarchists, rioters, and looters. “No quarter” means shoot to kill. It means blood and bodies in the streets. He knows what he means. He wants it. “Pastor” Rick Wiles, who is as crazy as a shithouse rat, says that protesters should be rounded up, taken to Guantanamo, and tortured. The Trump administration has given Rick Wiles's website press credentials on several occasions: https://t.co/BMObDjZIUT https://t.co/5UZBvp5HVr — igorvolsky (@igorvolsky) June 4, 2020 This is where the Trump administration/campaign (screw campaign law, they are the same organization) is taking us in 2020. Why Is THIS Time So Different?

0
I can’t stop asking myself that question. Why George Floyd? Why now? There’s nothing original or different here. Cops kill an unarmed black man in the street. Cell phone video emerges. The video stokes days of protests followed by nights of outrage. Niuse gets made by politicians, protests get broken up by the police, and eventually everything returns to whatever is normal about this insane situation. Why is this time so different? Because it sure as hell feels different. It can’t be the murder itself. Sweet Jesus, we have an almost endless litany of names, faces, and outrages. Diallo, Brown, Scott, McDonald, Garner, Gray, on and on, it sounds like your average small town phone book. I get the terrible feeling that if we collected the names of all of the unarmed black men and women killed by police in just the last ten years, we’d have a pretty damn good start on a sequel to the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Can’t be just the video either. Hell, we have an encyclopedic collection of taped police atrocities against unarmed black men. We have video of cops shooting unarmed men in the back as they run away. We have them shooting unarmed black men through the open window of a car, while his fiance films, and his young daughter looks on. We have video of a cop who never even bothered to identify himself as one shooting through the open window of a house and killing a woman. We have video of Mike Brown being gang tackled to the street and choked out. And we have video of an already critically injured Freddie Gray being thrown into the back of a police van like an old carpet. It never fucking seems to end. So, why now? And why George Floyd? Upon calm reflection, I find that there are actually several differences this time, and they come together in a kind of a perfect storm. They’re all small differences, but it only takes a single snowflake to start an avalanche. For one thing, this time the video really is different, and I think that it’s a contributing factor. In most cop obscenities, it’s incredibly quick. There’s an unsteady camera image, a sudden motion, followed by BANG! BANG! BANG! and a black body hits the floor or street. It’s shockingly quick, but over just as quick. With Eric Garner, there was a brief scuffle that led to a pile on that obscured a lot of the action. And while Freddie Gray’s death was slow and painful, the aggressive arrest tactics that led to his injuries was lightening quick. But not this time. This video was almost excruciating to watch, going more than nine minutes. And it wasn’t just one video either, there were multiple angles, all well centered and holding still, recording for history three primates with guns literally smothering the life out of an unarmed, already compliant and cuffed black man on the pavement, while a fourth goon stood doing crowd control to ensure that nobody interfered with the murder. This while bystanders yelled repeatedly to the cops that they were literally killing a man in the middle of the street. personally, I hope that Keith Ellison bumps the charges up to murder one, because the two words that keep going through my mind are depraved indifference. The second that […]

Trump Campaign Ordering Media to Retract Statements About Trump Using Tear Gas Before Bible...

3
Donald Trump’s Bible thumping photo-op has turned into a public relations catastrophe. The New York Times reported that it was the brain child of Hope Hicks, now back at the White House after her brief sabbatical at Fox News. To do the photo op setting the stage for Project Themis, where divine law and order is restored, it was necessary to clear Lafayette Park of protesters and somebody in Trump world made the decision to use tear gas — and now the Trump campaign is all over media outlets getting them to print retractions and say it didn’t happen, even though live broadcasts clearly showed that it did. INBOX: Trump campaign orders the media to “correct or retract” reporting that accurately described yesterday’s protests, live footage of which plainly showed viewers what happened. pic.twitter.com/ly07TODYlC — Olivia Nuzzi (@Olivianuzzi) June 2, 2020 That was followed up by the Trump campaign sending out this note to media outlets. This was received by Media Matters, who told them “no,” they weren’t going to turn into Sean Spicer. Hope you all are doing well, staying healthy and safe. Saw your piece this morning on the use of tear gas at Lafayette Square. Wanted to make sure you saw our official statement on the false reports and would appreciate it if you would retract and correct your piece. As always, happy to be a resource for you. And this is Media Matters’ rationale. Our response: No. The Trump campaign is currently pressuring journalists and news outlets, demanding they issue retractions and corrections. None of them should cave to the pressure to deny well-established reporting. One day after Trump’s inauguration in 2017, we warned, “Journalists need to recognize that they are dealing with proto-fascist conditions. Accordingly, they must stiffen their spines and stand up for their profession and the truth.” That warning echoes even louder in this moment. Any journalist or media outlet that revises their original reporting based on nothing more than Trump’s assertions will have essentially morphed themselves into a cog in Trump’s authoritarian propaganda wheel — no better off than Sean Spicer the night he infamously lied about Trump’s inauguration crowd size. Here are some facts about the government’s actions at Lafayette Square on June 1 and the U.S. Park Police’s absurd statement on June 2 that the Trump campaign is citing. On the Park Police statement: 1. They admit using pepper agents to disperse protesters 2. Witness accounts, including from journalists on-scene, indicated protesters were peaceful until the police attacked without warninghttps://t.co/6Bpij3bsUn — Alex Wayne (@aawayne) June 2, 2020 This clip is a good synopsis of this story. In particular, go to 1:54 and watch the White House’s version of Donald Trump, Man of God, making his pilgrimage to the church, complete with organ music. Sweet Jesus. This belongs in a remake of The Exorcist. “You could hear the flash-bangs from inside the White House as they were going off.” @kwelkernbc reports on police in D.C. firing tear gas and pepper spray at peaceful protesters just moments before President Trump walked across the area to take a photo at St. John’s Church. pic.twitter.com/4RPF9ObSYk — TODAY (@TODAYshow) June 2, 2020 This next clip is good as well, because the reporter says that while he’s listening to Trump talking in his ear about law and order, “I was watching people […]

I Think It Has Finally Broken Through

1
If you sling words around like frisbees all day to make a buck or two like I do, and if you’ve spent the last 5 years flinging those frisbees at one Donald John Trump, it can be incredibly frustrating. And if it frustrates me, what about the real reporters who deal with him face-to-face. He’s like one of those “bop dolls” your parents used to get you at Toys-R-Us. Smack him and he pops right back up again. They try to pin him down on something, and he just smiles that stupid Man, this is some good shit! Thanks doc! grin and keep blabbering about some totally unrelated topic. But that has degenerated recently, and it’s only getting worse. Trump used to relish his jousting with unfriendly media, calling them snide names, waving his hand dismissively at them and calling them fake news, before ignoring them in favor of someone else. His more recent interactions have been more bitter and personally insulting. I think the media is getting in his head in a way it never has before, because he can graphically see what their assaults are doing to his polling numbers. Another prime example is Trump’s ill fated church visit the other day. Trump could care less if the basement of the church was set on fire, he probably wants to build a condo there anyway. It was reported among other things that the driving reason Trump wanted that photo op involved a particular piece of graffiti spray painted on the wall, something reported to be Trump’s name, along with an expletive. I’m guessing it was something along the lines of Fuck Trump! But in what parallel universe is a US President even aware of an individual piece of graffiti, much less so compelled to respond to it that he has mounted cops blaze a path through to the site for him? Why did this get under his skin so badly? Watching the continuing wall-to-wall coverage of the national protests last night finally clicked something over in my mind. I have written before about Trump’s severe anguish and frustration by his isolation caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Kick starting the economy was nothing more than a convenient cover story for Trump to use to force states to reopen as quickly as possible. His real reason was to create an atmosphere in which he could resume his mass rallies to soothe his ravaged ego. But we’re not there yet, and Trump remains isolated. A few weeks ago I wrote of the absurd hilarity that while Trump could easily fill an arena with 15,000 screaming oafs, when he orders them out into the streets in front of state houses to protest for those Governors to reopen their states quicker, he can’t gin up more than 500 to actually come out and protest for him. I guess it turns out that Trump supporters would rather come out and see the show than come out and be the show. And don’t think for a minute that Trump didn’t see the pathetic number of people he could call into the streets, and that it didn’t burn his ass. This is critical to keep in mind, because what happened last week? An unarmed black man was murdered in Minneapolis by a quartet of heavy handed, indifferent cops. And within hours, there weren’t a lousy 500 people in the streets of Minneapolis, there were […]

SMACKDOWN!

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, this was not what El Pendejo Presidente was anticipating. Right now I can only envision Donald Trump prowling around the White House like a feral cat with a bad tooth. At 12:01 EDT, five freakin’ hours after the established curfew in Washington DC took effect, there is still a hale and hearty protest presence in Lafayette park, right across the street from the White House, chanting and roving around, having the time of their lives. The official police  response tonight seems to be, As long as they aren’t breaking and looting shit, let them burn themselves out right where they are. The last 48 hours have been nothing short of a complete debacle for His Lowness. He started by threatening to send US army troops into American cities to quell domestic disturbances if the states Governors didn’t use a massive national guard presence, and might, to put the pesky protesters in their place. Letitia James, the New York Attorney General flipped Trump a magnificent middle finger, promising to meet any federal troops at the state line with a court order to prohibit them from proceeding any further. And all of those wimpy Mayors and Governors controlling cities like Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, all scenes of recent violence and looting simply changed tactics, starting their curfews earlier, then isolating, breaking up larger groups, and when necessary, peacefully arresting curfew violators with no armored vehicles or buzz bombing helicopters needed. Trump’s own Defense Secretary, Mark Esper, is paddle footing away from Trump like a duck billed platypus, belatedly claiming that her had no idea that Glorious Bleater was dragging him off to some stupid photo op at a church, he thought that Trump was wandering out into the street to chat up the troops, I dunno, maybe offer them a military discount membership at Mar-A-Lago. But he still managed to minimize his sincerity by forgetting to try to take back the insane, chicken hawk shit he trash talked to the Governors on the conference call earlier in the day. And it just goes downhill form there. Pretty much everybody who is left in the west wing is calling every reporter they have on speed dial, blaming everybody else who is left in the west wing for the debacle. According to recent reporting, it was all Hope Hicks and Jared Kushner who thought up and executed the disastrous photo op in front of the church. And as pliable and slimy as Tubby the Ewok is, even he pushed back against reporting that he had actually authorized the clearing of Lafayette Park, putting the blame squarely on Trump. And just in case anybody is interested, the bag that Ivanka Trump spirited that bible over to the church in retails for more than $1500. Pretty much every evangelical religious leader with a legitimate congregation is roasting Trump alive for that cheap stunt on the steps of the church. And damn near every black pastor with a church is roasting Trump over an open fire for his blasphemy. Even the bishop if my own Catholic church gave Trump 39 lashes for his cheapo and shoddy opportunism in using the shrine for Saint John Paul II for another palsied photo op. Most religions, including mine may be more than happy to order salvation to sinners, but not to apostates, and Trump seems to have just crossed that […]

Getting Tear Gassed At A Demonstration Is An Unforgettable Experience. It Happened To Me.

0
It’s all beginning to come back to me now. Donald Trump walked across the street from the White House, Monday, to St. John’s Episcopal church, not to pray, but to do a scene, specifically, to set the tone for Operation Themis, which he is now implementing by deploying 2,100 troops armed with bayonets on the streets of the nation’s capitol. (Themis is the goddess of divine law and order.) Trump hefted the Bible, as if testing it’s weight, and when asked if it was his, he replied, “it’s a Bible.” Trump probably doesn’t know that people actually own such things and read them. Trump held up his the Bible, maybe channeling divine power, who knows, and he muttered a few words about what a great country this is and how it’s going to become even greater, bla bla. Bishop Mariann Budde saw the charade for just what it was, Trump using the Bible as a political prop and denounced him for it. She said, “he didn’t come to pray” and “a Bible is not an American document.” Now in order for this impromptu street theater to take place, Trump unleashed tear gas upon what was a peaceful and lawful assembly and seeing that brought back memories. Believe me when I tell you that the introduction of tear gas into a peaceful protest is an unforgettable, and unforgivable, experience. The year was 1972. I was 19 years old and and studying journalism/media at the University of Colorado. It was springtime, as now, and an election year, as now, with a despised Republican incumbent running for reelection, as now. If you weren’t there, or are too young to remember, the politics of that era were wild. As a young person I took it all in stride, having nothing to compare it to, but my elders told me that they had never seen anything like this before and I believed them. JFK was assassinated in 1963, followed by Martin Luther King in March of 1968 and then in June, Bobby Kennedy who was the front runner for the Democratic nomination was murdered. The death of Bobby Kennedy was a milestone in American politics. That was a fork in America’s road and we will never know what that road not taken would have been. Kennedy offered a vision of hope for the country and a continuation of his brother’s dream. With his death, the Democratic party lost it’s most capable and charismatic leader. The resulting 1968 election, with Hubert Humphrey as the Democratic standard bearer against Richard Nixon, and with George Wallace pulling in 46 electoral votes as the American Independent Party candidate, was catastrophic. Political scientists defined it as a “major realigning election” which translates as an election which results in sharp changes in ideology, party leaders, issues, and/or regional demographics or bases of power. This particular major realigning election of 1968 permanently disrupted the New Deal coalition, which had been in effect since 1932. Democrats were the majority party for all those years. We had the White House that entire time, with the exception of eight years of Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Eisenhower was nothing like the Republicans of today. There is no room for a character like Eisenhower in today’s GOP. In the face of tragedy and riots, Tricky Dick won the […]

THAT Was Your Best Miscalculation Yet, Numbus Nuttus

Yesterday’s performance by El Pendejo Presidente was without doubt one of the most brilliant exhibitions of self obsessed narcissism I’ve ever seen. Like a kid playing Dungeons and Dragons, Trump envisions himself in his head as a steely eyed tough guy, and then he turns around and tries to act out that impulse. And by his own design, there is no longer anyone around him who can tell him what a terrible idea this is. If Trump is going to get a photo op, he figures he may as well make a twofer out of it. Yes, he wanted that photo op of himself walking across the street to that church, and holding that bible over his head like a cat walking into the house with a dead muskrat in his mouth. But he also wanted the photo op of federal police agencies, in full riot gear clearing Lafayette Park for Trump’s little stroll, as an example to various Governors and Mayors on how he wants these protests handled in their own cities and states. Well, Mission Accomplished dipshit, but just like another cranially challenged GOP President, not with the results he was looking for. I find it almost inconceivable that even a brain dead troll like Trump can’t understand what the image of a bunch of uniformed dudes with gas canisters, clubs, and guns riding horses through the middle of a peaceful, unarmed crowd does to the American memory banks, especially when put into a racial context, but there you have it. He really is that fucking stupid and unfeeling. All trump did with that particular photo op was to harden state opposition to his proposed interference into concrete. But as difficult as it is to believe, the optics of his must have photo op on the steps of the church with the bible in his hand was even worse! Let’s face it, even the most moronic RWNJ, MAGA topped Evangelical already knows that His Lowness is no Christian. Other than family funerals and his phony ass wedding vows, Trump has never seen the inside of a church. And the only time Trump would open a bible would be to sign the damn thing, the way Hitler did. I just can’t get the soul food kitchen scene from The Blues Brothers out of my mind; Jake: Ma’am, would it make you feel any better to tell you that what we’re asking Matt here to do is a holy thing?  Elwood: We’re on a mission from God.  Mrs Matt: Don’t you blaspheme in here! Don’t you blaspheme in here!!!   That’s just the way I see this playing out in the Evangelical community. They were more than willing to forgive-and-forget Trump being a Godless scumbag, just so long as he had Moscow Mitch keep pumping unqualified conservative asshole judges to the bench that would outlast all of them. But when Trumpenstein starts using their churches like backdrops of his boardroom in The Apprentice, and starts waving their holy bible around over his head like one of his fatty Trump steaks, well, he may have just crossed over a rather personal line. Especially since it was an Episcopal church, and bishops pf most if not all denominations are branding him seven different kinds of pig. As badly as Trump may have just screwed up with the largely white Evangelical community, he really buggered the bow-wow when it comes to the […]

Kremlin Reveals Trump Just Called Putin

3
Well, isn’t this an interesting development. The Kremlin has announced that Donald Trump called Vladimir Putin today. This is not the first time that we have learned of conversations between Trump and Putin from the Kremlin. In recent memory, a trip to Moscow by John Bolton and Republican senators on the 4th of July was announced by Radio Free Europe and they got the word directly from the Kremlin. The Trump White House doesn’t bother to share such trivia with the American public, evidently. Here is a Google Translate synopsis of the conversaton It is noteworthy that while 75 U.S. cities have been the scene of violent protests, this was not discussed — or at least there is no record of it, and I think it likely that that is the case, that there’s no record of it. New Civil Rights Movement: According to the Kremlin Trump notified Putin of his desire to add Russia and a few other nations to the G-7, which the U.S. is hosting in August or September. (Russia was kicked out after its annexation of Crimea, and has not taken any action to remedy that illegal move.) Putin thanked Trump for sending American-made ventilators, and congratulated him on Saturday’s successful manned launch into space. Discussions also included the coronavirus pandemic and oil. The Kremlin’s readout does not mention the protests, but Trump held an especially violent call with the nation’s governors apparently after he spoke with Putin, based on his schedule. One official who listened to the call called it “unhinged.” Now isn’t this intriguing? Trump called his BFF Vlad and then he blasted U.S. governors. It does make you wonder who’s running Washington, doesn’t it? Chess champion Gary Kasparov has an opinion on the matter. Trump is a coward and a fool, but if the violence isn't brought under control quickly, his ability to outrage and stoke fear will make it sound like violence is the only solution in a vacuum. — Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) June 1, 2020 And if you think promising safety to a majority is a less effective message than promising justice to a minority, I've got some bad news based on personal experience for you. https://t.co/VbANzD0k8I — Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) June 1, 2020 This is very sobering. If you read my earlier piece today on how Russian TV is coaching Trump to “inspire fear and terror” and then “ride in on a white horse” this isn’t just idle speculation that that is something Trump will do. Trump is following the Kremlin game plan because he wants Putin to tell him how to get reelected. That’s all he wants and all he cares about, the actual reality of governing be damned. And Putin wants Trump reelected above all else as well. That totally fits in with his agenda. We are solidly f**ked.

Trump Lashes Out at Governors You’ll ‘Look Like A Bunch Of Jerks’ Threatens to...

6
“Bunker Boy” Donald Trump went off on a tirade against state governors in a conference call Monday, the stated purpose of which was to gather information and discuss constructive measures to deal with racial protests and violence, now going on for a week in 75 cities nationwide. The commentary was vintage Trump. New York Times: “You have to dominate,” he told governors on the call. “If you don’t dominate, you’re wasting your time — they’re going to run over you, you’re going to look like a bunch of jerks.” The president continued: “You have to arrest people, and you have to try people, and they have to go jail for long periods of time.” Mr. Trump, who has not addressed the nation since the unrest began, said he was putting Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, “in charge,” but did not immediately specify what that meant or if he would deploy the military to quell the violence in the nation’s cities. Beratng governors is an interesting move for a chief executive to take. Who is it now, that’s supposed to be running the federal government, exactlY? Business Insider: “You’re making a mistake because you’re making yourselves look like fools. And some have done a great job. But a lot of you, it’s not — it’s not a great day for our country,” Trump said, according to the CBS reporter Ed O’Keefe. “You know, when other countries watch this, they’re watching this, the next day, wow, they’re really a pushover. And we can’t be a pushover.” MORE: Trump tells governors: "You’ve got to arrest people, you have to track people, you have to put them in jail for 10 years and you’ll never see this stuff again," per audio obtained by @CBSNews — Ed O'Keefe (@edokeefe) June 1, 2020 Here's the audio of that remarkable call where Trump lashes out at governors and says they need to crack down on protesters. pic.twitter.com/ANSsniYItN — Oliver Darcy (@oliverdarcy) June 1, 2020 Here is Social Engineering 101, as taught by Professor Trump — not to be confused with Dr. Trump, the reknowned epidemiologist. It’s all very simple, you see, you just “round up thousands” and “put ’em in jail for ten years.” Why didn’t we think of this before? And of course the fact that this is coming from Bunker Boy himself, puts this beyond parody. And here’s my favorite: Trump is threatening to “activate” Bill Barr. You know the image I get? Remember “The Day The Earth Stood Still” where the robot, Gort, activates and a laser beam comes out of his face plate and he starts strolling round D.C. incinerating people and things? That’s what I see. On the call, Trump references Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Milley and Attorney General Bill Barr. "We will activate Bill Barr and activate him very strongly," Trump says. — Ed O'Keefe (@edokeefe) June 1, 2020 Hey, listen, if you hear Trump say, “Klaatu, barada nikto” I would run like hell if I were you, lest Bill Barr gives you a dirty look and vaporizes your ass. The comedy writers at SNL must be throwing their laptops out the window. You can’t make this up. No way.

Russian TV Encourages Trump To ‘Create Fear and Terror’ Then ‘Ride In On A...

3
Political pundits in Russia are declaring that the nationwide protests on racial killings and police brutality are to Donald Trump’s benefit politically. They have advised him to “wait it out” and exploit the situation to his advantage. You can’t blame them for their attitude. We were stupid enough to elect Trump once, they’re banking on us being gullible enough to be manipulated into it again, while they sit over there and point and laugh at us. Daily Beast: Instead of siding with the protesters, Russian state media focused on the benefits Trump may be able to reap once he is able to crush the uprising. Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov suggested, “It would be better for Trump to wait it out—just not too long—to terrorize a significant part of the society; 83 percent of the Minnesotans are white, a great majority. That’s why he should wait it out, to create fear and terror. And then he can ride in on a white horse as someone who will restore order. That will be very important for him right now, especially in light of the economic difficulties.” […] The view from Moscow is curiously similar to the opinions reportedly held by Trump’s advisers, who believe that the impression he’s restoring law-and-order will help him to turn the unrest to his advantage—particularly with the seniors, whose support has diminished in light of the president’s poor handling of the coronavirus pandemic. This is the gambit that both the Russians and Trump’s allies are hoping that he will play, the theory being that if suburbanites are terrified that the unrest will reach out their way, and if Trump manages to quash it, then he will be seen as their savior and vote for him. It’s hard to imagine that anybody who has lived in this country the past three and a half years is stupid enough to believe that Donald Trump can fix anything, but this is a prevailing political “theory,” if you will. My own theory is that people are so disgusted of living this way, with a vacuum in top leadership, that they will vote Trump and the Republican senate the hell out of Dodge. But I always acknowledge that I could be wrong. But while we ponder these matters, the Russians are sitting around with a vodka gleefully wonderfuling just how bad it’s all going to get. What we’re seeing in America now is what the Kremlin has wanted for a long time. Back in 2018, appearing on Russia’s state TV show The Evening with Vladimir Soloviev, deputy dean of world politics at Moscow’s State University, Andrey Sidorov, complained: “Unfortunately, Trump didn’t reach the level of Abraham Lincoln and didn’t drive the U.S. to civil war. That’s sad. Hopefully, he’ll become Herbert Hoover and at least drive them into a Great Depression.” In 2020, the Kremlin’s wish list is on the verge of being fulfilled, as the perfect storm of the coronavirus pandemic, economic turmoil and civil unrest has been unleashed upon the United States. But it’s not only the Kremlin that’s rejoicing. Pandemonium unfolding in the United States hit the sweet spot at the intersection of Russia’s and China’s anti-American propaganda, cross-pollinating for maximum exposure. During the broadcast of Russia’s 60 Minutes, host Evgeny Popov repeatedly showcased an offensive image posted by People’s Daily (Zhenmin Zhibao, an official newspaper of the Central Committee […]
