Trump tried to pull the United States out of NATO

In 2018, after constantly criticizing U.S. allies and strongly hinting that, if real conflict came to Europe, no one should expect America to meet its treaty obligations, Trump tried to take the next step—simply...

Oh. My God. Did Trump just threaten to start a war with NATO?

Last night, in the midst of yet another utterly irrational Twitter meltdown, Trump suddenly Tweeted the following: Trump threatens to “devastate” a NATO ally. Does Trump not know that Turkey has been a member of NATO since...

Max Boot – “If Trump isn’t actually a Russian agent, he is doing a...

Sure, Max is wrong about a lot of things but he’s right about this…. Washington Post “On Friday, the New York Times reported that “in the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests.” That investigation may well be continuing under the auspices of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. We don’t know what Mueller has learned. But we can look at the key, publicly available evidence that both supports and undercuts this explosive allegation. Here is some of the evidence suggesting “Individual 1” could be a Russian “asset”:” Max then reels off his eighteen reasons der Groppenfuhrer is a Russian asshat…er… asset, all of which are familiar to most here — his financial entanglements with Moscow, the many meeting his surrogates sought with Russsin officials etc…etc…. — but which might have escaped notice by a casual reader. It’s good however to have them compiled in one place and by a conservative at that. I have bookmarked the article for future reference. Max’s concluding paragraphs fit the usage parameters, however, and I will include them here: “In his own defense, Trump claims he has been tougher on Russia “than any other President,” but literally in the next sentence he says, “getting along with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing.” When the United States actually has taken steps to get tough with Russia in the past two years, it has usually been the work of Congress (the 2017 Russia sanctions bill) or Trump aides (expelling 60 Russian diplomats). The Post reports that Trump was “furious” when his administration was portrayed as being tough on Russia, and NBC News reports that he instructed subordinates never to publicly discuss plans to sell weapons to Ukraine. This is hardly a “beyond a reasonable doubt” case that Trump is a Russian agent — certainly not in the way that Robert Hanssen or Aldrich Ames were. But it is a strong, circumstantial case that Trump is, as former acting CIA director Michael Morell and former CIA director Michael V. Hayden warned during the 2016 campaign, “an unwitting agent of the Russian federation” (Morell) or a “useful fool” who is “manipulated by Moscow” (Hayden). If Trump isn’t actually a Russian agent, he is doing a pretty good imitation of one.” That’s about the only thing he’s doing good, Max. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. About That Oval Office Meeting with Lavrov and Kislyak…Putin Asked/Told drumpf To Do It.

Susan Glasser at Politico confirms what many of us suspected all along, that Putin had directed dumbass to invite Boris and Natasha to come for a photo-op in the Oval…. “The chummy White House visit—photos of the president yukking it up with Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak were released by the Russian Foreign Ministry since no U.S. press was allowed to cover the visit—had been one of Putin’s asks in his recent phone call with Trump, and indeed the White House acknowledged this to me later Wednesday. “He chose to receive him because Putin asked him to,” a White House spokesman said of Trump’s Lavrov meeting. “Putin did specifically ask on the call when they last talked.” The meeting was Lavrov’s first in the White House since 2013—and came after several years of the Obama administration’s flat-out refusal to grant him an Oval Office audience, two former senior White House officials told me. “The Russians were begging us for years to do that,” one of the former officials said. “They were constantly pushing for it and we were constantly saying no.” The images of Trump putting his arm genially on Lavrov’s back—and a later White House official readout of the meeting that said Trump “emphasized his desire to build a better relationship between the United States and Russia”—couldn’t have come at a more fraught political moment for Trump, amid a barrage of bipartisan criticism of his firing of FBI Director James Comey. On Wednesday morning before meeting with Trump, Lavrov even cracked a joke about his hosts’ political predicament, laughingly claiming not to have heard of the Comey firing while standing alongside Trump’s secretary of state, Rex Tillerson. In other words, Lavrov was right where he has always wanted to be Wednesday: mocking the United States while being welcomed in the Oval Office by the president himself.” The only question I ever had was why Putin insisted on the meeting a that particular time, coming so hard on the firing of Comey that it was like rubbing salt in the wound. Either he had a pressing need for the Israeli intel that drumpf so obligingly offered up, or his goal was to stir up maximum outrage here in the States. Maddow Reports Mnuchin “complained” about Briefing House Leaders for a whole 1 1/2 Hours!...

Rachel Maddow reported last night that after Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin finished  briefing a bipartisan group of House members yesterday about the admin’s decision to drop sanctions against Manafort’s BFF Oleg Deripaska, he complained to reporters about having having to take a whole 1½ hours out of his Snidely Whiplash day to schlep up to the Hill and explain himself. (I couldn’t find any news stories on this, but you can hear Rachel report it starting at 3:56 in the video below….) This will no doubt cause a thousand tiny violins to be broken out by HRC supporters who remember her her 11 hour grilling by the Republican House’s Benghazi Committee which led to exactly no conclusions being found and no charges brought. Poor Steve, being called away from playing with our money…. …to answer for actions that will financially benefit a Russian Oligarch who likely tampered with our 2016 election. HRC could have done an hour and a half standing on her head… …………………………………………………………………………………………. To receive articles of mine not published elsewhere become a patron on Patreon. Rachel Maddow and Former Amb. to Russia McFaul Discuss drumpf’s use of Kremlin Talking...

Rachel Maddow and former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul last night discussed three known incidents when Trump spread Kremlin talking points, themes which at the time were not being propagated by anyone else but Russia, including the fear that Poland was about to invade Belarus… Raw Story “Trump’s initial conspiracy theory was that Poland may invade Belarus. “The only people in the whole world who were saying that was a potential problem that people ought to look out for, the only people who were talking about that as a possibility, were Vladimir Putin’s government,” Maddow reported. “Putin’s government at that time was running a military intelligence disinformation campaign to try to mess with Belarus by convincing Belarus that Poland was about to invade them.” That Montenegro, which was about to join NATO, is full of aggressive war like people about to ignite WWIII… “The second example was Trump’s claim that Montenegro may start World War III. “The only place on earth that has been pushing any line like that — that Montenegro is unusually aggressive and will start World War III if allowed to join NATO — the only place on earth articulating that is the Kremlin under Vladimir Putin,” Maddow reported. “So where did he get that from, right? Who planted that?” the host asked. “Where are you hearing this stuff?” And most recently that the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was not an attempt to prop up a Soviet backed puppet government there but a reasonable response to a terrorist threat…. In case you missed it here’s the segment: As Rachel and McFaul point out the most alarming thing in all this is not Trump parroting the Kremlin, but rather whom is he talking to to get this disinformation and why are not the supposed adults in the room, like former Chiefs of Staff Priebus, Kelly and current NSA head John Bolton inserting themselves between drumpf and his propaganda source? Sounds like another good question for the new House majority to investigate.
