Trump Rails About ‘Phony Emoluments Clause’ Says George Washington Got Away With It

Donald Trump called the emoluments clause “phony” which either means he doesn’t believe it exists, or he thinks it was written just to harass him and for no good purpose. Either way just another clueless, corrupt comment on another blithering day in Trumpworld, nothing new. The Hill: “You people with this phony Emoluments Clause,” Trump said to reporters at the White House during a Cabinet meeting, referring to the constitutional clause that prohibits elected federal officials from receiving gifts or contributions from foreign governments. Trump offered a lengthy defense of using his Doral resort near Miami to host next year’s G-7 summit, and lashed out amid questions about the backlash to his earlier decision. Trump insisted that he would not have profited off hosting world leaders, scores of journalists and other staff at his family’s property near Miami. The president announced Saturday the White House would find a new location for the summit following criticism from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. “It would have been the best G-7 ever,” Trump told reporters during a Cabinet meeting, adding that he felt the eventual location would not be as good. “I would have given it for nothing,” he said. “The Democrats went crazy, even though I would have done it free.” We could have been a contender in the summit-hosting business, but no, we had to go and invoke this phony clause in that boring rag of a constitution — which was written before television, what possible good is it? And then he said that George Washington owned real estate, so what’s the biggy? Raw Story: On Sunday, White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney revealed President Trump “still considers himself to be in the hospitality business.” Journalist E.J. Dionne said that “is confessing that Trump has never cut himself off from his businesses, even though Trump claims he has.” Washington reportedly did own businesses while president. The rules were not as strict in 1789, but that doesn’t make Washington perfect, as some have noted too. Trump’s not doing anything wrong, all the other presidents did it, Washington did it, Lincoln got a pair of elephant tusks, boo hoo, why or why is everybody picking on Donny? And why is it okay for Barack Obama to have a book deal and a television deal with Netflix? Trump is too dense to realize that the fact that Obama cut those deals after leaving office, is a totally different proposition from what he’s talking about. The man truly has the analytical and argumentative skills of a child.

Stunning Analysis of Trump-Pelosi Showdown by Body Language Expert

A picture is worth a thousand words, and here’s a body language expert to analyze the pictures that were taken of the now-famous Trump-Pelosi confrontation last week over the Syrian debacle, wherein Pelosi declared, “All roads lead to Putin.” It is scarcely a new insight that Nancy Pelosi scares the living s**t out of Donald Trump, but this point by point analysis, not only of the Trump-Pelosi dynamic, but of the attitudes of the other participants in last week’s “meltdown” meeting, as well, is nothing short of fascinating. 2/ When a person has little or no empathy — and/or when they're far from their emotional baseline, their ability to interpret how others will view an event becomes dramatically distorted. — Dr. Jack Brown (@DrGJackBrown) October 20, 2019 4/ After Donald Trump engaged in ad hominem attacks toward Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer left the meeting. After the meeting, Donald Trump tweeted out the above image which will no doubt become historic. — Dr. Jack Brown (@DrGJackBrown) October 20, 2019 6/ What follows is a detailed nonverbal analysis of this now-famous photo, with multiple cropped close-ups. — Dr. Jack Brown (@DrGJackBrown) October 20, 2019 8/ Moreover, the President's hands are hidden beneath the table. This too is not at all Trump's normal behavior. When he's seated at table or a desk, his hands are most often on its surface — otherwise, they're folded across his chest. What we see here is rare for Trump. — Dr. Jack Brown (@DrGJackBrown) October 20, 2019 10/ Donald Trump's medial (inner) eyebrows are vectored downward. The expression on his face is an amalgam of both anger and fear. — Dr. Jack Brown (@DrGJackBrown) October 20, 2019 12/ Look back at the full picture. Notice how Trump repositioned his glass forward on the table? He frequently does this with any objects placed in front of him. — Dr. Jack Brown (@DrGJackBrown) October 20, 2019 14/ In contrast, Nancy Pelosi's body language is hyper-alpha. She's not only standing up — she's the only one standing.
