Remember how quaint Watergate was, how it all blew up when the “smoking gun” was discovered? Donald Trump’s got a smoking artillery range, as yet another career diplomat steps forward courageously to testify. Michael McKinley, a former senior adviser to Mike Pompeo, resigned his post last week, “amid rising dissatisfaction and plummeting morale inside the State Department over what is seen as Pompeo’s failure to support personnel ensnared in the Ukraine controversy,” according to the Washington Post:
McKinley is scheduled to testify Wednesday. Maybe he’ll enlighten us as to what Pompeo was doing, listening in on the telephone conversation between Trump and Zelensky. McKinley is a private citizen now. He doesn’t have the sword of Damocles hanging over him, since he resigned. This could get interesting.
