Beto O’Rourke doesn’t want another Donald Trump, and has a plan to help prevent another corrupt being from blackening the Oval Office. After the orange behemoth attacked the Constitution and its “phony” emoluments clause, O’Rourke proposed a constitutional amendment to take away the president’s pardon power for anyone implicated in an investigation against a president or president’s family.

“In his farewell address, George Washington warned of the ‘insidious wiles’ of foreign powers and urged Americans ‘to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government,’” O’Rourke said in a statement announcing his proposal. “Congress should act swiftly to impeach and to remove President Trump from office in light of his illegal actions. But it is also time to pass additional reforms that heed Washington’s advice so that Trump—and every president who follows—will never be above the law, or able to welcome foreign interference in our democracy.”

O’Rourke also pledged that if he is elected president, he’ll ask Congress to make it a federal crime for a president to accept help from a foreign power for either political or financial profit. He’ll also ask for a law to make clear that any kind of assistance in an election, including nonfinancial help, from a foreign power is an emolument.

You also need to increase congresses power to investigate and demand that witnesses produce all necessary documents and themselves under threat of incarceration for not complying. That will end stonewalling congress in these matters.
