Bernie Sanders was counting on taking California in a walk, but that was before the great watershed moment that was South Carolina, for Joe Biden, occurred. In all events, a recent poll indicates that Bernie’s lead has considerably diminished.

Now bear in mind that Buttigieg and Klobuchar are still showing up in the poll because of the rapidity with which this picture has changed. It is entirely possible that right now, the difference between Biden and Sanders could be even less and within the range of statistical error. Also, if the difference between the two candidates is narrowed to a few points, and if Biden racks up wins in other states, then Biden could pull ahead.
At this point, the only thing that is certain is that it’s a two man race, Biden/Sanders. Warren may still be in it technically, but there looks to be no way that she can win. Bloomberg said at that outset that he would pledge his financial support to whomever the Democratic candidate ended up being, so let’s hope he stays true to his word on that.
