Eric Clapton has confirmed that he has COVID-19 and is cancelling tour dates after being told that continuing to perform could endanger bandmates and prolong his recovery.
Throughout the pandemic, Clapton has been vocally opposed to significant lockdowns and other preventive measures, and when the vaccine became available, questioned the efficacy of the vaccines. Though critical of vaccine effectiveness as being “overhyped,” Clapton is himself vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine, and so will probably escape the severest symptoms.
The post on Clapton’s Facebook page said it was “very frustrating” that Clapton should test positive after “avoiding Covid throughout lockdown and throughout the period when travel restrictions have been in place.”
Huh. Almost like those restrictions worked to keep you from catching it sooner. Amazing.
