White House has until Monday to come up with some wiretap evidence

The Hill is reporting that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) and ranking member Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) have asked the White House to provide any evidence it has the Obama order a wiretap of Trump Tower during the election campaign.

Nunes has said that the intelligence panel would investigate potential surveillance of political parties as part of its Russia inquiry.

Trump tweeted out a claim last weekend that Obama had ordered a wiretap of him during the elections, comparing it to “Watergate” and “McCarthyism”. He did not provide any evidence at the time and has not provided any since. A spokesperson for Obama has denied the claim.

Now it seems the Intel committee has set a deadline for Trump to come up with some evidence of his claim, amid growing calls for a proper investigation. It seems we may find out if the Trump administration has any evidence to back this up, or if this was just a Trump distraction tactic to get the heat of Jeff Sessions.
