Former CIA agent: Jared Kushner’s actions may amount to treason

If the reports that Jared Kushner tried to set up a secret communications channel with Russia are true, at an absolute minimum he needs to be fired before the weekend’s out. But a former CIA counterterrorism expert thinks this could be a lot more than that. It could potentially be treasonous.

“If you are in a position of public trust, and you talk to, meet, or collude with a foreign power” while trying to subvert normal state channels, “you are, in the eyes of the FBI and CIA, a traitor,” said Glenn Carle, a former top counterterrorism official at the CIA. “That is what I spent my life getting foreigners to do with me, for the US government.”

At the very least, Kushner’s actions would be a firing offense in any normal administration. If he’s still on the White House staff by the end of the week, something is very wrong.

But if this is even half true—and it certainly sounds like it is—whether Kushner keeps his job should be the least of his problems. If it is indeed true, then let’s say it with feeling—lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up!
