Comey invited to testify in PUBLIC! Update: Oversight Committee requests Comey’s memos

Following the Times’ explosive story today alleging that Donald Trump improperly asked FBI director James Comey to drop the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and that Director Comey (unsurprisingly) kept detailed contemporaneous memos of every conversation he had with the president, Senator Lindsey Graham has invited James Comey to testify publicly to the Judiciary Committee.

It is not clear at this time if Comey will testify to the full Judiciary Committee or to Graham’s Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism like Sally Yates and Director Clapper last week.  Assuming that Grassley isn’t interested in hearing Comey’s testimony like Graham is (which would be par the course for Grassley, to his shame) it’s likely that it will be the latter, but in either case it would be Comey’s first public appearance since his sudden dismissal as FBI director last week.

Update: The House Oversight Committee has requested copies of Comey’s memos as possible evidence of obstruction of justice by the 24th.

And yes, they really say it’s to investigation obstruction:

[…] these memoranda raise questions as to whether the President attempted to influence or impede the FBI’s investigation […]
