For all the furious denials from Republicans that they aren’t the chosen party of American neo-Nazis… they seem to keep choosing goddamned Nazis as their candidates:
Steve West, who promotes anti-Semitic conspiracy theories on a radio show he hosts, defeated three other candidates Tuesday in the bid for a seat representing Clay County. He won with 49.5 percent of the vote.
“Looking back in history, unfortunately, Hitler was right about what was taking place in Germany. And who was behind it,” West said on KCXL radio in January 2017, The Kansas City Star reported Thursday.
The Missouri Republican Party, no doubt realizing with panic that they had once again allowed a fucking Nazi to win a nomination under their party’s name, issued this frantic statement:
“West’s abhorrent rhetoric has absolutely no place in the Missouri Republican Party or anywhere. We wholeheartedly condemn his comments,” the party told The Star.
Of course, we know that claim is not really that accurate, since this is just the latest example of the Republican Party nominating a Nazi during this mere election cycle.
Maybe… just maybe if Nazis have no place in your party, your voters could, you know, stop nominating them? Just a suggestion!
