Donald Trump finally decided to open his big fat trap on the Stormy Daniels affair, and this new defamation lawsuit filed Monday is just the beginning of his headaches from the decision. The Guardian writes:
Stormy Daniels filed the complaint in federal court in New York on Monday. At issue is a tweet Trump made in which he dismissed a composite sketch that Daniels says depicts a man who threatened her in 2011 to stay quiet about her alleged sexual encounter with Trump.
In the tweet earlier this month, Trump said: “A sketch years later about a nonexistent man. A total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it)!”
The court filing says the tweet was “false and defamatory”. Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages.
Nice work, Trump. His first big misstep took place on Air Force One earlier this month, then the tweet mentioned above, and finally the Fox & Friends pajama phoner last week. Between all three, Trump has set himself up for legal disaster.
And there’s something extra sweet about Trump managing to slander his way into a defamation lawsuit with an adult film actress. Put another way, a porn star is now suing the president of the United States for dragging her name through the mud.
