The new Quinnipiac poll has found something that’s really quite stunning: A majority of Americans believe the Russian government has material that could be used to blackmail the president of the United States.
American voters believe 53 – 35 percent that the Russian government has compromising information about President Trump. Only Republicans and white men don’t believe this.
Just think about that for a second: Most Americans now believe Russia has the type of damaging information, or ‘kompromat,’ that could be used to effectively turn Trump into a spy for them or, at the very least, get him to do their bidding.
In other words, most Americans think Russia has the ability to potentially pressure the president of the United States to act against the best interests of the United States.
As with other polls, the vast majority of Americans also don’t think Trump should fire special counsel Robert Mueller.
Trump should not fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, voters say 74 – 13 percent, including 59 – 25 percent among Republicans. […]
American voters say 54 – 31 percent that Mueller is conducting a fair investigation into possible links between the Russian government and the 2016 Trump presidential campaign.
Similarly, a Fox News poll this week found that 64 percent of Americans think Mueller is treating the White House fairly but 71 percent also think Trump will try to fire Mueller.
Another 56 percent said they believe the Russia probe will find Trump committed impeachable offenses.
